Executive Director - Brian Wyatt

The Executive Director is responsible for the general management of the GLSC and its day-to-day operations. He is appointed by the Council's Governing Committee.

The current Executive Director, Mr Brian Wyatt, has wide experience in the administration of Aboriginal affairs, including work as a senior adviser to government; Executive Director of the Eastern Goldfields Aboriginal Council; Regional Manager, Aboriginal Affairs Department; and Assistant General Manager, Aboriginal Hostels Ltd.

Maurene Williams - Executive Assistant

Ms Williams is the Executive Assistant to the GLSC Executive Director. She also provides support to the meeting processes of the Governing and Executive Committees, ensuring records of meetings are maintained and follow-up action occurs.


Executive Personnel

Whilst the day-to-day administration of the GLSC and implementation of the Governing Committee's decisions are the responsibilities of the Executive Director, he is is supported by a team of dedicated and well-qualified staff that includes lawyers, anthropologists, historians, project officers and administrative personnel.

Mr Trevor Donaldson – Operations Manager          

Mr Donaldson commenced with the GLSC in May 2006. He oversees organisation activities, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery of services. Trevor is an indigenous person with a significant history of service in Aboriginal organisations within Western Australia.

Mr Ambrose Cummins B Juris, LLB  – Principal Legal Officer

Mr Cummins has responsibility for management of the GLSC's Native Title Branch, including legal work, research and mediation.

Ambrose has been part of the GLSC team since 2000, working on claim litigation and mediation and more recently helping establish the GLSC’s Land Unit, which deals with indigenous land tenure and management matters.  

He has more than 20-years experience as a lawyer, including work in private practice and with organisations associated with Aboriginal people. He is a former coordinator of an indigenous resource centre in the Kimberley and lawyer with the Aboriginal Legal Service’s Land and Heritage Unit. 

Manager Corporate Services

Position vacant

Responsible for GLSC budgets, financial reporting, information technology, human resources and general administration.

Philip Vincent LLB, BA –  Principal Retained Counsel

Mr Vincent is a member of the independent bar in Western Australia and is an experienced lawyer of more then 25-years standing. He has been principal legal officer of the Aboriginal Legal Service (WA) and has considerable expertise in native title law.

His principal role with the GLSC is to give legal advice and direction to other members of the staff and to oversee the legal proceedings undertaken by the GLSC with respect to native title, including the responsibility for briefing other solicitors and barristers.
